Hey just wondering if anybody here doses their tank with Vitamin C. Here is a link to great source of it for cheap. http://www.iherb.com/ProductDetails.aspx?c=1&pid=-7152293197697039798 - http://www.iherb.com/ProductDetails....93197697039798 This should last the person for about 6 months on a 120-200 gallon tank size depending on how much you dose and for the reason. Here is also a coupon for $5 off for new customers. XOT271. I will tell you right now that this works if you are dosing correct to help you save your fish and corals if you are having problems with them.

I use Vit C powder that has been buffered with Cal to help with the PH issue with Vit C.
I love it , "sure hope my corals do"

I use the Iherb stuff periodically and the tank seems to benefit from it. I did notice it drops my ORP like a rock for a lil' bit though....pretty much immediately after dosing. I haven't noticed any adverse affects from that.

Burt, it all depends on which brand you use. This one I can give you the information on it which also depends on the results you want to see.  You can use natural Vitamin C in pill form. This powder is a little easier because I can watch it on my controller. It also depends on how your tank is setup on the amount the ORP drops.

Burt, here is a link in regards to dosing the Iherb stuff. Maybe this will help. About three posts up from the bottom...

Snailson......can you elaborate on the ORP dropping? I've been curious to find out why this happens.

Vitamin C is a very strong reducer.  By definition, reducers lower ORP.

???  When did it become en-vogue to add vitamin C to reef tanks?  It's a well known "fix" for your tank if you add too much oxidizer (ozone or potassium permanganate) to then add some vitamin C, but otherwise why add?  Do you not think there's enough vit c in your food?

You guys need to listen to Jon.
I have always felt that the vitamin C available naturally in algae is sufficient. I cannot imagine adding it as a supplement. There is no need.

I dosed it for a little while.  I did see some improvements in my tank.  But then I had to take my tank down to move.  I was just thinking about this the other day about restarting it back up.  I guess I will have to go through and refigure it all out again.

Consider this:

Sometimes the improvement seen by a hobbyist is because the hobbyist is paying proper attention to tank maintenance and because a reef aqaurium naturally improves with age.

Just a personal observation but my tank generally seems to do better when I leave it alone for short times. I travel weekly and when I return everything seems to look much better than when I left. Of course this could be because I spend a lot of time just before leaving doing my maintenance and the tank has responded nicely 3 to 5 day later.
