| i want to invest in t5 lighting for my fish tank. i want it to be a reef one but not sure what to get. i have a hood and want the lighting to hang from the hood. please give me ideas of whats good and cheap. |

I would use a retro fit kit from Reefgeek. Depending on tank size I would start with at least 4 bulbs. You get what you pay for in T5. Finding something used is usually the best choice. What are the dimensions of the 50 gallon? 36x18x18? Check out the links I posted. They will answer a lot of your questions. If the tank is 18" front to back then I would look into running 6 bulbs for coverage. If you want SPS then you will need a good setup.
