Well my name is Jaden and I am new to the hobby. Have been following the forums for a few years now, and just purchased a 300 gal tank (yes that is 2 zero's after the 3). The tank is an acrylic tank and has all of the equipment to go with it. I live in the Ogden area, and am in need of some help moving and help setting the tank up. I need help with the plumbing and lighting, any help would grately be appreciated. Does anyone think I should call a LFS to see if they could help me with the transfer and set up? Any adivse is greatly appreciated. Thanks

I was in a similar situation a few months back; new to saltwater and purchased a used setup. I talked to Mike at Aquarium Masters and he actually came over and explained how to pipe everything free of charge. Of course, I've been a loyal customer since. He has been extremely helpful getting my tank started and stable.

I can help you move it and provide limited guidance. I do have plenty of macro algae and can give you a cup of sand to help seed. your tank.

I could offer help moving, setting up, whatever guidance I can offer, etc...

So with the purchase of the tank - the owner has his own "dead" rock and "dead" sand ~ 300 lbs. I was wondering once I get the tank set-up, could I use the "dead rock and sand" in my tank and then cycle my tank?

Sure, one of your new friends above will probably be more than happy to offer you a cup or two of "live sand" to seed your tank.
