Next week i am switching my tank stand out and im going take the chance to re do my plumbing. i have a couple questions though. My tank is a 120g AGA with dual overflows. im looking to get some durso stand pipes to quiet my overflows down. My questions are:

I plan on tying my two drains together so that only one line is going to my sump. Do i need to use bigger pipe after they meet or can i use 1" all around?

Should i use slipxslip connections or go with threaded ones? Is one method more secure.

Finally because this will be my first attempt at this some picture examples of what you guys are using would be nice!

Any help is appreciated!

When u combine 2 lines you need to double the drain. 2, 1inch lines should dump into 1, 2" line. Ditch the durso, and try herbie completely quiet

2" drain using slip threads. Check out my tank build!

Double the drain pipe and put a gate valve on it after they meet.  you can run a herbie like this get much more flow and very silent.
FYI my 120 runs one 3/4 the return, other 1" is tied into the opposite 3/4" into a 1.5" gate, the last 1" is the emergency line.  I have a panworld 200.
Next tank I get will not be a reef ready!
