You might try a mouse pad or 2 under the pump.  this will normaly help alot.

Do you have 90 degree fittings on the suction side of the pump?

Having to many 90s or too sharp of a 90 on the suction side can cause a pump to cavitate make it run improperly and sometimes loud. Not saying that's your problem but it doesn't help. The straighter the pipe on the suction side the better. Do you have a picture? Also did you reduce the pipe size coming of the pump?
