I think it would be a good idea to have a weekly open house. This open house would consist of just one persons tank or tanks. People could come and give you comments about your tank. If you are new to saltwater they could give you suggestions on what could make your tank better. People could learn from others what they do to keep there tanks looking so good. People in the club that have cameras could come and take pictures of your tank to share with others in the club. You could also see the peoples tanks that you have been wanting to see.

It could be set up so that people show their tank on Saturday or Sunday or even both days. Every week would be a diffrent persons tank and it would be on a volunteer basis. You could also show your tank as often as you wanted as long as no one else wants to show their tank that weekend that has not shown theirs before.

Is anyone interested in doing this? If so I would be willing to show my tank first. Who wants to show their tank next?

Thanks Chris! Those pictures turned out alot better then I thought they would. Is there any way I could get those pictures form you?

How about you be the second person to show their tank? Your tank is a very interesting tank because you have the whole refugium tank thing going on. I know no one else has a tank like yours. You should show it off. How about it you in?

Of course. Just right-click and save picture as.. I can always pop off some more shots and leave them on your harddrive if you'd like.

Unfortunately, I'll need to do some scheduling. Between work, school and homework it's difficult to plan an open house on short notice. But if you can get this thing going, I'm sure I can take a spot next month before summer classes start.

Thanks and good luck,

Chris

I have found that people in the club are very receptive to someone coming and visiting their tank.  We have seen ~40 tanks now.  It's really fun.  We enjoy it more when we go visit one-on-one instead of the reef tour environment.  It gives us time to visit and ask questions.  I try to set up the visit at least a couple days in advance.  I would encourage everyone to visit other tanks.  There is a plethora of knowledge in the club.

Jeff would that be Saturday the 23rd or 30th? Either day I will come and see your tanks again. Lets hope that more people show some intrest in this. I know I have enjoyed everyones tank I have seen. Why not spend one day showing your tank to anyone that wants to see it. I am sure that lots of people want to come and see your tanks Jeff but just don't want to bother to ask you.

Chris are those the only great shots you got or did you get plenty others? I allready saved those picture you posted but I know you took a ton. I also understand with your schedule that it would be tough to do an open house unless it was a 10:00 PM. If I had my girlfriends schedule I would be showing my tank at 2:00 AM.

These came out ok, but the rest are pretty ugly. I'm on a learning curve here :D

Enjoy,

Jeff, are you still having that open house tomorrow? I would like to come if you are. You should post your address/phone# for those that don't know where you live.

Like Susan said, if you want to see someones tank, just ask. I have visited with Jeff many times and he has been to my house many times. I don't wait for an invite. It's not like you are bothering when you go "oooo" and "ahhh" at someones pride and joy. On the contrary, it's like they are so flattered that you made the call and took the time to visit. I love it and have made so many friends. There are so many cool people in this group. I keep the membership list in my car and if I'm in an area with a little time to spare, I make a call. (I feel very special to have recently visited Adam Blundell and his wonderful wife and to have seen their tanks. )

Susan has really been marvelous about setting up some mini reef tours and has been so gracious to invite me and my friend along. Thanks Susan.
You and Fred are fantastic.

I think I've figured out why Mark keeps offering to send everyone membership lists.  Maybe he's tired of Adam and Jon calling
