I currently have two Koralia 1150s on the back wall of my Cadlights 50g cube. It just doesn't seem like i'm getting enough flow everywhere in my tank. They are both pointing up. I've tried multiple settings with the wavemaker I have trying to get my SPSs to look better. Then again, it could just be lighting problems as well trying to figure out the optimal settings with the Maxspect Razor 120w 16k LEDs. Anyway, i've been reading a lot about the Vortech MPs and i'm thinking about biting the bullet with either two MP10s, one MP10 and one MP40 or some mix of my Koralias where they are and one MP10 on the side. Any suggestions? The cadlights cube is 24"x24"x20". Would two MP10s be enough flow for the 50g in order to remove the Koralias? Would you put them on the sides pointing at each other or on the back wall? Just FYI, I have a lot of rockwork in my tank. ------------- Jared Page Highland, UT Graphic Designer |

I think that 2 mp10's will work but you might be running them close to max. I think that a mp 40 might be a little better say start it off around 40-50% as your corals start to get larger and block your water flow you can add a few more % to keep them happy. You could also look at a Jebao say wp25 as far as flow goes it would split the numbers from the MP 10 and MP40. I added a WP 60 and WP 40 to my 220. My sps seem to really enjoy the extra flow and the pumps do a great job at moving a lot of water. ------------- 220g , large elite aquatics sump. 3 Radion Pro Gen 3 lights 3 Mp 40's |

That's what I was afraid of lol. Those MP40s are freaking expensive. I guess ultimately, an MP40 would be a better buy if I upgraded the tank size later, it would still work on a larger tank. I just couldn't afford it now. ------------- Jared Page Highland, UT Graphic Designer |

Well if price is a issue. The Jebao pumps could be an option. I think the 25 is around $60 and a 40 is about $80. No they do have a much more direct flow than a MP10/40. There are several videos on youtube that show the kind of water movement that the pumps can make. I think I would go with 1 MP40 and 1 MP10. I have 2 MP40s on my RSM 250 (~39" long), with one running at 100% while the other is at about 80%. I also have a flow accelerator on one of my return pumps so I'm getting about 1000gph out of my returns. I realize this is a ton of flow but I originally had no powerheads and very little flow. Then I got 1 MP10 which lasted about 8 months before I got another MP10. A few months later I swapped those out for an MP40 and six months later I got second MP40. I've tried jebaos but never really liked them but have loved my vortechs. My only complaint is that I had to switch to crushed coral to prevent sand from blowing to the ends of my tank. I don't want to really just replace my Koralias with the same type of powerhead. Most people think the Vortech's unique features are worth the extra money. Anyone out there that have them? What do you think? If the MP40 is the way to go, I'll buy one MP10 and then just use my Koralias as well until I can save up for an MP40 or find one used. ------------- Jared Page Highland, UT Graphic Designer |

I have an mp10 on my 38 gallon, I love it I had never owned one before this tank and would never go back to using just a standard pump since using it. I think I have mine up about 80% I get good flow but I am still getting algae on my sand bed I'm not sure I have it placed in the greatest place but my tank is an all in one so it has to be on the side. ------------- Jackie Stuver "wait these aren't the happy Hawaiians oompa doompa godly heaven on your face zoas? I have 1 Mp40 on my 210 running at 100%, except when it goes into night mode. Too me the only thing that justifies the price is the fact that they removed the electric motor to the outside of the tank. PRICELESS!!!!!!!!!

I had a 60 cube and only used 1 mp10. If I re did that I would probably use 2 mp10s.... Nick is selling 2 mp10s, and also a wp25. I have 2 mp40s, and 1 wp25 on my 150. I love my mps the wp is nice just has a more direct/narrow flow versus how wide the disspersment of the mp |

Mines on the left side, towards the top. I'd like to add a second one, had two on my last 50 CAD, just to get a little more turbulent flow from the two bouncing off each other. Thanks. I'm actually picking up Nick's tomorrow. I'm just trying to decide where to put them now. I'll use the MP10s unless I think I need more flow and then I'll just save for an MP40. The most aesthetic place to put them would be right where my Koralias are. One on each side of the overflow on the back wall. However, the place with the most open area is in the front 1/3 of the tank on the sides where they can also be pointed at the other but that's right where I look at one side of the tank from my office chair.

I think it would. Have MP40's on the back walls and then 60's on the sides. I like how the flow is constantly crashing into each other through out the day from all angles.
