Hello! We are new to this hobby and are just setting up our 65-gallon corner-flow aquarium. We bought an Aqueon ProFlex overflow tank for our refugium and a MegaFlow accessories kit from Fish 4 U yesterday. We're putting it all together, but we're a little confused about the dual nozzle in the MegaFlow kit. Where does that go? Do the two nozzles just stick out over the cornerflow unit into the main tank to direct water return in multiple directions? Anyone have any good photos, videos, or resources to help us get an idea of how all this should fit together and look when we're done? Thanks! |

There should be a circular indication on the overflow that you need to remove the plastic from. Then the return pipe should line up with that and the dual nozzle should screw through the hole and into the return pipe. Hope that helps.  The commercial parts that manufacturers sell are meant to cover a wide variety of uses and interests by their customers.
Setting things up so that we get the maximum water flow or water current going in our reef tanks is very important. Flow is what coral need to breathe, to eat and to excrete. Fish love it too, because massive flow is what happens on the reef. For the most effective reef tank, I would change those dual nozzles to just one nozzle. Using only one nozzle will provide more actual flow/current within the tank. Use extra lock-line, if available, to extend the length and increase the directional capability of the single nozzle. Also, if the supplied nozzles are the fan style, remove the fan piece and watch the flow increase even more. This should be accompanied by adding a stream powerhead, like the powerful yet inexpensive Maxijet. Position the powerhead down low shooting up to the water surface in the direction of the return water stream. This creates great turbulence at little cost that can only be matched by equipment that sells for $300 or more. If this isn't making sense, feel free to come visit to discuss. That makes a lot of sense, Mark! Thank you! We were planning to get a couple of magnetic-mounted powerheads (about twice as expensive as what I just found the Maxijets for on Amazon). We do not have fans on the dual nozzles. Rather than replacing the dual nozzles, would two Maxijets accomplish enough flow? How do those mount, if not magnetically (as newbies, we've only seen the magnetic-mount powerheads, which our local fish store showed us and which we expected to buy from them in the next few days)? |

I simply set them upside down behind a rock on the sand or on a layer of rubble behind a rock. I dislike the look of a powerhead on the side of the tank. Maxijets do come standard with a bracket of three suction cups. Unfortunately the suction cups wear out after a year or so. There are various magnetic powerhead holders available, but new suction cups are way cheaper. Two unseen Maxijet 1200's provide all the circulation in this recently set up 75 gal. sumpless tank pictured below.
