Topic: Powerhead Recomendations Posted: November 14 2006 at 5:54pm |
I'm looking into buying 2 powerheads for my soon to be set up 29 gal tank. Any recommendations on brands? The Petsmart by my house has Marineland, Aquaclear, and Powersweep. Is one brand better than the others? Let me know your thoughts... Well I'm at it, if anyone has some used powerheads the want to sell, let me know. If not I'll buy mine at Petsmart.
Thanks,
Tim

 for asking before buying.
Maxijet only. I agree with Scott. Two MJ900's would be a good amount of flow for a 29 gal.
Sweeping powerheads are a waste of money. IME, they are a gimmick that has no value in a reef aquarium larger than 5 gals. One of the two MJ's can be set up to give all the changing circulation needed to keep things happy and growing right.

Don't forget about the maxijet mod. If you ever go to a bigger
tank, modding just one of the maxijet 900s will greatly help your flow.

Depending on what you want to keep, this brand new powerhead is pretty cool.
