they are a mix of astreas and turbos from reeftopia. I think i have 100 astreas and 200 turbos. i think the astreas are the culprit as they are a bit smaller and seem to be dragging on the sides.
i need the snails i'm not really sure what to do. It might only be a handful that are doing it so i'm going to watch and see which ones are doing it and throw them in my glass tank

You could catch the offending snails. Use a dremell or dentist drill and shave the sides of their shells down and polish them smooth. Then you could carve smiley faces in there shells....or... or ... Heck that just sucks. I quit using acrylic tanks because of the upkeep of the little scratches.

Acrylic tanks are Really tough to keep nice, which I'm finding out also. It's even tougher keeping the coralin algea out of the corners.

so has anyone tried any of the internal finish polishers, ie polish with livestock in, they say they are safe, but I'm wondering if you have to go through all three stages or if you could just touch up the ultrafine scratches with the fine grade every couple months??????
I read on the so cal forum that someone had scratches from the radula of a turbo snail, he must've had a snaggle tooth, Also heard of urchins doing it a lot from there spines and eating off coraline
well the tanks is gorgeous but I guess it's gonna take us a little extra in upkeep.....
good news it can be fixed, the scratches in my 120 glass can never..........

My last 3 tanks have been glass. They are easier to clean, but I miss having acrylic. Lightweight, beautiful light transmission, and strong. I never had issues with scratching. I also never had turbo snails; only astreas.

I did. I didn't use the actual polish, but I did sand down the scratches. I had no problems at all. However, it was big aggresive FOWLR, not a reef system...if that matters.

well we are going to have to try a little test area i dont look at often * by the overflow* I was worried i was going to scratch the OUTSIDE but that doesnt seem to be a problem. its the inside i'm having a horrible time with. The tank is beautiful though and I love it. The corners havent been a problem so far b/c they are bent. I can slide the credit card right around it!
