I bought two oscelaris clowns a month ago and one died, so I bought another one and it died, and I bought another one and it died.... Any suggestions as to why I can only keep one alive.
Tank Mates
1-Six line wrasse
1- Oscelaris clown
1- Emerald Crab (it loves to eat the dead clowns)
1- Pink Spot Shrimp Gobie
1- Bullseye Pistol Shrimp (it likes the dead clowns also)
1- Blue Hippo (currently out of the tank and in the ICU unit)Wink
One died in two weeks, one died in two days and the last one died overnight. Man that pistol shrimp fires his claw like crazy when the Emerald tries to take the dead clown away.

I might also add that all clown's purchased are of the juvenile size, hoping they would grow up together and get married.

thats weird i bought 2 ocellaris about 3 months ago and they do great together. they were babies when i got them too. one is bigger than the other now and i think they might become a mated pair when they are all grown up. they do their little shimmy like their mating but i know their too young. the bigger one moved into my BTA and the other moved into the cabbage coral. which is a hard coral.

I would suspect either the other clown or the Sixline.

I dont know what that means. Do you think the six line pestered them to death but he leaves the other one alone? All three times the two clowns would swim around together.

Bryokynella is a fish disease. Sixline wrasses sometimes (often) harass other fish. A dominant clownfish will harass other clownfish. This might be the problem.

Do you quarantine or fresh water dip before adding to your tank?

My male clown was sick for the first few weeks after getting him. After a second fresh water dip he started looking good and has been happy for months now. I think I would have lost him if it wasn't for that dip.

Has your current clownfish always gotten along with the other clownfish?  Or has it always fought with them?

It appeared to me that they were getting along, the current clown was not nipping at the other clowns. The one from the first pair was doing great with the other clown clown.  They were always together. The other two clowns were not alive long enough to make a good judgement. I did see the wrasse nip at the second one a couple of times. I dont know, I am going to chalk it up to my tank. 55 hex and not alot of horizontal swimming room. I quess I will attempt it again once the 72 bow is up and running. Unless there is alot of fighting or nipping going on when the lights are out (in the aquarium)Wink.
