I'm just going to come out and say, if you can do an LED retro, thats the way to go as far as cubes are.  

But if you just want to replace the bulbs for your cube, go to http://nanotuners.com/  Can't beat the price of a $10 bulb, plus they are quite a bit better than the stock Coralife Bulbs.

What's the best combo I can do for optimal growth? 4 10k? 2 10k?

How many bulbs do you have in your biocube 8?  2?  if you want it to look good and still grow, go for 1 10k and 1 actinic bulb.

Well there are 4 total, 2 together on 2 different sets. Its just the standard setup. I was thinking do one that's 10k and the other blue.

Yeah, that will be about as good as you can get for the biocube 8, unless you mod it to add another light, or do an LED setup

What are 50/50s rated? Are they the same as 10ks?
