55 gal are not very deep, I think you could only fit 4 bulb in a retrofit or in fixtures you could probably go 5 bulb

4 bulb ATI is super nice

5 bulb

My question would be how blue do you like your tanks to look? SPS would require high light so you would probably want all bulbs will good PAR, in 4 bulb I would do

Front
ATI Blue plus
ATI aquablue special
ATI Blue Plus
ATI aquablue special

Or if you do not want quite as blue
ATI Blue Plus
ATI aquablue special
ATI Blue Plus
UVL 12000k (50/50) or the UVL aquasun if you want to bring out the reds more

Personally I still like the look the UVL superactinic bulb gives, it really pops the colors but if you are focused on SPS the superactinic bulb does not have very good PAR, I would put one in the 5 bulb if it was me.

On my tank I don't have SPS and really am just going for color, right now I am running
Front
UVL super Actinic
ATI blue Plus
UVL super Actinic
UVL 14000k 75/25, I also have an aquasun that I can not decide if I like better than the 75/25 and keep switching with

I just like the crazy neon glow the super actinic brings out in my zoas. gsp, and candycanes

I just saw your other post in the buy and sell, if this is a frag tank, I would be looking for the best growth for cheap, so I would probably do

Blue plus
GE 6500K Daylight
Blue Plus
GE 6500k Daylight

The GE bulb is only around $13 and has a really good PAR rating, combine that with the Blue plus which has good par and is deep into the blues, you would have awsome sps growth and still good color and cheaper bulbs

Snoyce has some good recommendations. It really depends on what you are looking for. If you want a retro fit kit then I would run the Aquactinics reflectors and mounts. You could get 6 over the tank that way and really fine tune the color he wants.

If you are looking at a fixture then I would run the Aquactinics TX5.

For 4 bulbs:

ATI Blue Plus
KZ Fiji Purple
ATI Aquablue
ATI Blue Plus

5 bulbs:

ATI Blue Plus
KZ Fiji Purple
ATI Blue Plus
ATI Aquablue or GE 6500K
ATI Blue Plus

6 bulbs:

ATI Blue Plus
KZ Fiji Purple or UVL 75/25
ATI Blue Plus
UVL Actinic White
ATI Aquablue
ATI Blue Plus

PAR is basically (really basic) How bright the light is.  Meaning a higher par will go deeper in your water with good light rather than fading out because it is not bright enough.  I am sure someone on here can explain it much better.  But that is the general idea

PAR is not how "bright" light is. The highest PAR T5 bulb is the ATI Blue Plus and yet it is one the dimmest bulbs you can get. The ATI Aquablue is one of the brightest bulbs but has less PAR than an ATI Blue Plus.

PAR is Photosynthetic Active Radiation. In easy terms, it is how much light is reaching the corals that the corals can use for photosynthetic purposes. Some corals require a lot of PAR and others not so much. Most of your SPS like over the 250-300 range, IMO and most LPS like anywhere from 80-120. Softies can get away with low numbers. I read a report recently where the guy had the majority of his softies sitting under about 20 PAR and they were growing like crazy.

So the more PAR, the more growth for the most part. More PAR also means you can keep more corals and a larger diversity of corals.

Here is a great read about PAR. Very compicating but very, very good.

Hope that helps!
