I know of this fat bald guy that lives in Boise that has a a couple of stand and other type of calculators.  You enter the dimensions and it creates a cut list for you...

Let me know if you have any questions.

Here is the link to the calculators page: http://www.idahoreefs.org/calculators.shtm - http://www.idahoreefs.org/calculators.shtm

Thanks,

Plan on building a way to get the sump into the stand such as a door(s) large enough to fit it in. Will there be enough room in the sump to hold the water that will drain back into it if the power goes out? Leave enough height inside the stand for a skimmer to fit in the sump. Will the back of the stand be open for ventilation? It is difficult to control temperatures in a closed stand. I would also drill the 55 so when you do add a sump it will be easy to plumb. Make sure the stand is at the right height to view the tank i.e. are you going to view it from standing or sitting? Will the canopy be able to open without hitting the ceiling?

i was planning on making the front detachable what hight is perfect for viewing i was thinking about 30'' high my tank is allready up and running and has been for the past 4 months so im not sure if i want to take everything down and drill the tank i was thinking about an overflow i think thats what it is called and my lighting right now is just the normal florecent lights i only have a couple corals right now and im going to keep it that way till i get MH but its mostly a fish only tank right now and im going to leave the back open

Perfect height for viewing depends on you and your families height and whether you will view it from a standing or sitting position. The stand for my 120 was 40" tall and I had to bend over a few inches to get my eye-level below the canopy. My 60 gallon stand will probably be 26" tall so I can see it comfortably from my easy chair.
