I have this great colony and just noticed that it has a hole (new) in it. Looks like something just took a small drill bit to it.

Any ideas? The colony is happy and healthy overall...

I have tangs, a blue jaw trigger, clowns, some wrasses...

Thanks,

Michael

Most of all the acan colonies I used to get and frag had some type of "bug" in them they have a shell that looks like a pistasio sp? Shell and when you remove them they leave a perfect round hole. It could be that maybe one of your fish picked it out of the acan. Is the hole all the way down in the skeleton? If so I am betting that is what it was

I have no idea! As creepy as it is I figured it couldn't be good, plus it was living in a hole in my Acan so it just had to go!

It looks like what would happen if an owl had sex with a ant who had sex with a crab.

Crazy man!

Looks like the larvae of a crab. If it were me, I'd leave it in. Bad crabs can be easily removed when they start causing trouble, but if it was an Emerald or other kind of beneficial Crab, it would be fascinating to watch it grow.
