Are there any LFS that will remove an existing bulkhead and put in a new one?  I bought a used tank and the bulkhead has an elbow fitting on it that I don't want to use as I've been told that the current design will end up making a loud gurgling noise as it drains water to the sump.  I doubt that I can get the fitting off, so I'm thinking about just having the bulkhead replaced.  This is a glass tank and I'm trying to avoid breaking it!  Gosh this is difficult for a first timer here figuring out how to get the water from the tank to the sump and back again.  I was going to order parts today online and they were very helpful but of course the first question they asked me has put me at a standstill due to this elbow fitting on the bulkhead!  sigh ...

You can saw the elbow off with a small manual hand saw or hacksaw, I use one like this for it:

you can also cut it off with a hot knife, either way it's really easy to cut pvc. Once you have it cut off you can just remove the bulkhead yourself and replace it with a new one, I've had to do just that several times with tanks and overflows that came with funky glued angular pvc setups.
