    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="http://www.utahreefs.com/forum/member_profile.asp?PF=96">jfinch</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 10894<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> March&nbsp;10&nbsp;2006 at 12:13pm<br /><br /><P>This reminds me of snorkling at Catalina Island.&nbsp; There's a buoy out about 300 ft&nbsp;from the beach.&nbsp; After snorkling around through the kelp we decided to swim out to the bouy.&nbsp; It's kind of&nbsp;fun to be swimming at the surface and watch the bottom slowly sink out of view as we reached the bouy.&nbsp; Then it's just a 12" chain dropping down into oblivion and thousands of light rays reflecting in the water.&nbsp; It's at that point that I remember watching shark week on Animal Planet where some guys were towing a surf board behind a boat (with a camera installed in the surf board, pointed down into the water).&nbsp; Filming great white sharks race up from the depths and attack the board.&nbsp; Hmmm, I wonder if I look like a surf board or maybe a seal?&nbsp; <IMG src="http://www.utahreefs.com/forum/smileys/smiley11.gif" border="0">.&nbsp; The swim back to the beach went quicker then the swim out. <IMG src="http://www.utahreefs.com/forum/smileys/smiley36.gif" border="0"></P>]]>

    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="http://www.utahreefs.com/forum/member_profile.asp?PF=1226">jbera</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 10894<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> March&nbsp;10&nbsp;2006 at 10:38am<br /><br />Yeah, I have this real phobia about swimming in natural bodies of water.&nbsp; Pools are fine, but lakes and oceans...<BR>&nbsp; It's not that I am afraid of the fish, or even the sharks in this case, I am afraid of what I can't see, what might be lurking 5 feet into the shadows just waiting for me to turn my back so it can come flying out of the dark at lightning speed and attack me without warning with a vengance like......., sorry, got a little carried away.<BR>&nbsp; Sure, I'll swim in pineview, strawberry,&nbsp;willard, bear lake&nbsp;and other lakes, but not for very long.&nbsp; The larger the body of water, the less likely I'll get in, especially&nbsp;Pineview with those man eating tiger muskies<IMG src="http://www.utahreefs.com/forum/smileys/smiley36.gif" border="0">.&nbsp; I guess I'm just a wuss.&nbsp; I don't even have a cool story about being atacked by a trout when I was young to explain it.]]>

    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="http://www.utahreefs.com/forum/member_profile.asp?PF=1226">jbera</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 10894<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> March&nbsp;10&nbsp;2006 at 9:37am<br /><br /><P>I went out there yesterday about 4:00 (site says they close at 4, but it's 3 in the winter).&nbsp; She was really nice and it was kinda cool.&nbsp; I never guessed that such a place existed.&nbsp; She said the water is naturally slightly less salty than the ocean but the fish seem to do alright.&nbsp; While we were there she threw some food in the water and, among other fish, one of the <strong>8 FOOT NURSE SHARKS</strong> came up for a look.&nbsp; WOW, that thing is huge.&nbsp; Several awesome looking fish.&nbsp; She said that if we wanted to come out early one morning (about 7am) we could watch them feed all the fish.&nbsp; The sharks come right up to the edge and put their noses out of the water kinda "begging" for food.&nbsp; BTW, you have to call and arange to stop in that early.&nbsp; </P><P>It was really cool, but I don't know if I could swim in there with sharks that big.&nbsp; I know they are the most docile sharks in the ocean but still, it is a shark.&nbsp; Some of the fish are nearly as big as me.</P><P>Oh, yeah, if you go out, the dogs are harmless but they will run right up to your car as you park.</P>]]>
