Hi,Fish people! Who knows about skimmer maintenance?Ours has slowed in it's bubble making capacity.I've noticied the air intake tube has h20 in it,pulsing in and out with the air.Is it supposed to do that?I don't remember noticing it do that before.Does anyone know an easy way it fix it? Suzy,

Have you got a skimmer yet?  If not you can try mine out, if you like it you can have it.  You helped me out so much while getting a coral collection  started.  It would make me feel good if I can help you out.

It's the Sea Clone.  Come by and pick it up or I can bring it by.  I've been wanting to check out your guys's tank anyway cuz it's been awhile.

Suzy,

You can use my Sea Clone skimmer.  I thought it worked great.  Since my tank is sitting on a wooden sub floor my tank moves a little and it came apart once.  Rather than take the time to secure it with bag ties like I've seen done I just used it for an excuse to run skimmerless. 

Atleast this way it gives you a chance to see if you like the skimmer before you buy one. 

I'd be happy to bring it to the next meeting.

I like skimmers.  I think they do a wonderful job.  I guess it just depends on what you are looking for.  And I still haven't found one that doesn't require some maintenance and upkeep.  I have a US Aquariums skimmer, and I think it does wonderful.  Mine hangs on the back, but I don't have a sump so that is why.  I also prefer the skimmers that do not have airstones and air pumps.  I like the kind that inject air with the powerhead. 

I guess the best thing to do is to just look at a few different skimmers and see what looks good to you.

Suzy - I highly recommend the Aqua C line of skimmers.  They are the best I have seen.  I have a hang-on model called the Remora Pro, but for your size tank, would recommend the in-sump version.  Check out this web-site:http://www.proteinskimmer.com/products/EV120.htm and here is a side-by-side comparison of my skimmer with another popular HOB skimmer: color=#0000ffhttp://www.thereefweb.com/protein_skimmer_comparison.htm They are really easy to upkeep too.  Most other sites out there will recommend the Aqua C line as well.  Good luck! - Jared  P.S.  I have a batch of caulerpa almost ready for you and Rob.  Thanks again for the frags.

Hey,WMAS! Is everyone thinking skimmers are are good thing now? Ours is way old,and died a few days ago...I guess we gotta get a new one,but they are so pricey!
