Just a thought... if you are not seeing microbubbles in your sump and it is only from the main tank, it would appear to me that your are sucking air in your return.

I have found in my sump that adding filter material is the best way for me to get rid of the microbubbles. Basically, just put the filter material between the source and the return pump.

It already is on the farthest side of the sump away from the return pump. I will try to direct the water flow straight up right now. Can you add tubing to the outlet of the skimmer and route the water flow to another place in your sump?
I have a Turbofloater 1000 skimmer. I added tubing to both outlets and forced the water (and any micro bubbles) to a location further away from my return pump. I also added an elbow to the tubing to direct the water flow straight up. I bought an ASM-G1 skimmer from The Aquarium. It has been running for 3 days now, and the microbubbles are still very bad in my display tank. I have tried adjusting the output of the skimmer, but I had no luck. The wierd thing is that I am not seeing the bubble problem in my sump, only my display tank. Any ideas? The actual space required for the unit to fit into on a given area. To demonstrate, plant your foot on the floor. The space around your foot is the footprint or the space that it occupies. It applies to anything, even other bodyparts.

Mine is the ES5-5 also and I have a 65 gal tank and I cant believe the gunk it takes out of the water compared to my old skimmer.

Last I heard is that Randy at MSM had the ES5-2 for 10% off of 229.99, thats what I paid for mine 5 weeks ago, and its rated for tanks up to 150 gal.

It does have about an 8 inch footprint, if that is of any concern for your sump.I highly recommend it.
