Author: Mark Peterson
Subject: 26473
Posted: June 19 2008 at 3:05pm

In my own 25+ tanks in the last 15 years, I've experienced Caulerpagoing sexual and melting away only 2 or 3 times. As long as you keepfeeding it and removing/eating it, Caulerpa will continue to growwithout interruption. By feeding, I simply mean that you continue tofeed the tank and let the caulerpa be eaten and/or harvest it regularlyfrom the system. However, I don't recommend that a hobbyist keep onlyCaulerpa. The use of many different kinds of Macroalgae is veryimportant, Chaetomorpha being the most common other macroalgae. In thisthread you will find a link where we put together a list of algae that can be useful as well as some that are pests. http://www.utahreefs.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=9244

That being the reason. I have plenty of nori that I know is clean. I'd imagine if you were feeding it daily it could become a problem. all possible :)

i feed a sheet of nori daily *it's always gone by noon* along with several small feedings of flake and frozen. Be careful on polluting your water however if your filtration cannot keep up

This is good.

Feeding algae from the Refugium is an excellent way to give the Tangs their greens, but it's also good not to feed too much so they keep eating algae off the rocks to help the snails keep algae under control.

My current tank has no Refugium so the Caulerpa grows right there and my Tang eats it. I feed Emerald Entree and Cyclope-eze frozen and give flake food when i don't have time to feed frozen.
