Sulfur is a part of the ecosystem.

There is a common concern about the buildup of sulfur that could happen if someone was to use a lot of Epsom salt for many years. Personally, I believe that concern is an unfounded fear, partly because it would take a very large amount of Epsom salt and because most reef aquariums don't last for more than a few years before they are taken down or moved and changed giving them a refreshing.

Chloride is always a better "transportation device" but for some odd reason (I know there are those few chemists that understand the reason) we need both in our tank.

Maybe it has to do with the way our tank handles sulfur, and releases the mg from it.

Edit: oh and ice melts are usually always calcium chloride, the ones we want to use anyways... you can order in the mag flakes (mg ch).. but I do believe jerry (eagleeyez??) Has some that he is selling that is already premixed(mg sf/ch) you just need a container and water

Edited by badfinger - August 02 2010 at 6:36pm

Epsom salt is way cheap. I'd just do that and not worry about the rest.
KISS
