Make sure your hydno is no where near this coral. Hydnophora corals are extremely aggressive towards other corals. I had mine drop a small branch that bounced off another coral beneath it and it almost killed the coral. It was crazy.

My pocillipora has not encrusted back over it's dead branches. I would wait and see though, which is usually the smartest thing to do with new corals.

I tried to be very careful handling it, only touching the base it's encrusted on.  But it did get jostled around a little bit.  That combined with new lights I guess could be an issue.  I see no red bugs or flatworms, nothing I think would be eating it.  Is it likely for the polyps to come back, or is it a good idea to get rid of dead branches?  The only other SPS I have right now is a hydnophora that's doing great.

I agree with Mark on this one. I have only had a poci once and one day it was great and the next, complete death. Might be acclimating to your light? Pocillipora is a pretty hardy coral. Are you having trouble with any other SPS?
