Yeah, I'm not sure I'm going to get real use to it.. Speaking of shimmer --- the coral display tank at The Aquarium is running LEDs.  It almost makes me motion sick when I stand there and watch the tank.  I'm not so sure I would get used to it.

It is a dramatic effect - but difficult to look at for an extended time.

I have the AI sol as well, at first you notice it but now i dont even notice the shimmer. Its a little faster shimmer than a metal halide, but pretty close. I am running AI Sol lights and I barely notice the shimmer now. Nice. Do you have pictures of the tank and also the fixture?

I don't even notice the shimmer on my tank anymore. I hate shimmer from aquarium lights and LED shimmer looks nothing like MH shimmer. When you have dozens of point-source lights it looks like a mess.

Decrease your surface agitation. With my LEDs I have to have very little surface agitation or it annoys me as well. I actually start getting sick from all the motion.

With my LEDs it seems the brighter they are the less I notice the shimmer.


As pgravis said, the less surface agitation will help. But the shimmer from LEDs is one of the big selling points for LEDs, why do you want to decrease it?
