I ran my existing ASM G2 for about six months on our 270G (400 total water volume). I was constantly emptying the collection cup. Once we started added more fish (including two tangs) upgrading was the only option. I currently don't remember which one I bought but it's a beast. The new one skims like crazy and I still had to empty the gallon+ sized collection cup weekly. After about two months, the skimmer caught up with the production of wastes and I now empty it about twice a month. Its better then no skimmer, but it is under sized. I would say no as well. If you don't already have one I would look into a newer design of skimmer.
