I have one that does that all the time.

Although there is a galaxia coral about 5 inches away, that occasionally hits it with a sweeper tenticle.  This causes it to shed its mucus layer, but it usually recovers in about a day and continues growing.

I wouldn't worry about it as long as its not like that 100% of the time

Leather corals grow a layer of mucus that they shed occasionally. They will shrivel up when this happens. I have one that does that every night when moon light comes on. So I did some searching to see if it was dead or on its way. From what I found they will do that from time to time and there is no rhyme or reason. So don't stress it too much. My leather coral has been good since I got it, but this last week it has shriveled up and appears to be turning white on its ends. All other corals and parameters are good.
