I like black vinyl to black out the back if my tanks, works like a charm. If you use acrylic for dividers, leave a good 1/6"-1/8" gap on both sides where it meets the glass for your silicone. If you make the acrylic a tight fit, it will crack your glass down the road. Well 12 X 12 is as big as I can go. 10 X 10 is probably good but I am pushing it a little Wink

How much space do you have on your desk?  You could always take a 15 gal and divide it into main tank and sump/fuge/pump/filtration area.

How tough would it be to make dividers to turn a 12" glass cube into an all-in-one system?

I would also like to "black out" the filter area. Is there some type of self adhesive product I could use on the outside of the tank?

 I really don't like bow front tanks or curved glass corners like most of the all-in-one systems have and I don't want an acrylic tank but I need a small tank for my desk.
