That explains why my mind was having difficulties making sense of the look versus the dimensions and capacity.
Come over anytime and get a small sprig of red algae to try and I'll give you several types of tall Caulerpa.
If the phyto is alive and the light is bright enough, a phyto bloom will soon occur, like the one I had in the tank below. This was not the first time, nor the last that I had to deal with a phyto bloom in a new tank.

Aloha,
Mark
808-345-1049 call/text ahead
750 E Lakepoint Dr. #4V

Squamosa and Crocea Clams cleared the water in about 3 days. You may also want to try decorative Macroalgae for hitching posts and water clarity.
If that tank is only 8 gals then it must be quite shallow front to back. 96 W PC tubes are ~34" long. Is the tube all white?
Though the tank looks a lot like a 20L, if it is just 8 gals, my guess is that this tank measures approx. 36"Lx6"Dx10"T and that the light is 14" above the water. Is that about right?
I would not expect to view that kind of cloudiness in 6" of water. Is the cloudiness due to phytoplankton or just dust?

Aloha
