It's less of an issue on the RO side but it will still leach into your RO water over time. The salt in our tanks makes it dissolve and leach even faster. You can get all plastic floats on Amazon pretty darn cheap (and quick if you have Prime).

OK, that's what I what afraid of. I was thinking of using I float valve from a swamp cooler for my RO shut off. They both contain copper and will leach it into the system if used. Avoid metal fittings and parts as much as possible. If you must use metal then use 440 Stainless steel only.

I know copper medicine is bad for coral.
Is there anything bad about using brass fittings or copper tubing?
Not sure if it will cause leaching issues.
Anyone know for sure?
