    Posted: October 09 2007 at 1:18am

I got this awsome cap coral pink w/ purple polyps and I am out of glue, so I placed it on this rock. it wasn't touching the acro I have there, but it was slightly under it.  now an area directly above the cap coral on the acro is completly white and looks dead. I have moved the cap to the other side of the tank. now this happened in about 12 hours.

Do you think it was the cap and now the acro will heal?
Or, do you think it has another problem?

Looking for any sugestions.

Thank you, Jeremy

Hard to tell without a pic, but you were right to move it. Each coral needs its own space. Some need more space than you realize because they have sweeper tentacles that come out at night or they give off potent territorial chemicals. These chemicals can kill surrounding coral and move in the direction of water flow right past other coral before becoming diluted by tank water.

I've had this happen with some of my acros and they all bounced back ok.  Just give it some time.  However, if you do see the flesh receding more, then you might have to frag it to save it.
