Have had a dwarf lion for a few days and tried to get him to eat frozen krill and silverslides...nothing.  Finally after a few days of having him I thought I better just get him to eat anything, so I gut loaded some ghost shrimp with NLS pellets and he took care of them in a flash....what is the best way to wean this guy onto frozen?  Advice appreciated!

Start with live ghost shrimp and feed him really well for a couple weeks. Then don't feed him for a few days and try to get him to accept frozen. It can sometimes take a couple months, and on rare occasions these fish will sometimes never accept frozen foods.

Oh that was good. I would feed it a live fish like a Chromis a few times and then start giving him a few dead ones and then a few frozen chromis and then try a silverside. It should work buy small chromis though. It is an expensive meal but sometimes worth it.....

You may also try to "harpoon" a live shrimp or fish to make the transition.  This will get the fish to make the connection that the stick = food.

I have spent literally hours working with my Rhinopias to take food from the stick.  Even offering live fish on the stick, it will not strike.  If I take the fish off the stick, it will go after them.

The key is to make sure the fish is healthy and survives the acclimation to your tank.  Once you are comfortable that the fish is doing well and eating live food, begin to stretch the time between feedings.  This will help its appetite to overcome its fear of the unknown.

Good luck.  Keep us posted.

What else do you have in the tank?  I've found that as long as some of the fish in the tank are eating it they will too.  I had a lion that wouldn't eat, then i put in my puffer and the puffer started eating frozen and so did the lion.
