Does anybody have a recipe for killing aptasia? I have been injecting some with vinegar, but its not terribly effective. I like the joes juice stuff that just is applied to the anemone not injected. Much easier and somehow way more effective. Anybody use something similar that is easy to whip up with household stuff or something? Or even a more effective way or combination to use vinegar?

Lemon juice, vinegar, kalkwasser paste, and aptasia X all work well. Just make sure you inject it into the mouth so they can't release spores after you remove the needle. If you inject it in the base they will send spores before they die and you will end up with more then you started with.

The cool thing about Kalkwasser is that Aiptasia like the taste and eat it. Then is kills them. Use a blunt ended syringe like the ones in test kits. Aiptasia seem less bothered by the blunt end.
If there are Peppermint Shrimp that haven't touched the Aiptasia, kill the larger Aiptasia with Kalkwasser and watch the Peppermint shrimp completely clean up the rest.

Peppermints at least 4, if suckers are big then pickling lime (its dirt cheap) mixed to a paste, dont waste your time with injection (unless you have the time and have a tank where thats an easy option), shut your pumps down, use a infant medicine string cover them completely, let sit with pumps off for 30 min (paste stays where you put it), then get baster and suck the paste out. Turn pumps back on, watch your alk after. Did this, have had no issues since. Buying Aptasia x is like buying pre mixed alk and calcium in a bottle...you can do it but your just making someone else rich haha.

I use a 60 cc syringe and just use hot water to blast them a few times. They will un-attach and you just use the same syringe to suck them up and in to the garbage.

I like watching them explode.

It bring s me great joy, kind of funny, because it causes me strife when anything else dies, I go to great lengths to keep everything else alive...
