I've got a small brown digi colony and it's taken a turn for the worse since I added this little guy. More and more bare spots are showing up on the coral. Think it could be this fish, anyone had their blennys bother sps?

I've heard many blennies will munch on SPS like corn on the cob, not sure about your that particular species but its very likely

I'm starting to think it might be an emerald crab; I caught him taking a taste the other night...

But couldn't the crab be eating the dead part too?  Or was he eating the live part?

Based on the pics I would say that your coral is having issues and the fish is coincidence. Your corals almost look like they have bleached out. Even if they are being nipped at they should do most of there feeding at night when they are not bothered.

Most blennies are algae eaters (Herbivores) but can nip on occasion. Emerald crabs are opportunists. They eat whatever has started to die. What lighting are you running? Can you post water params and describe the tank setup?  What other livestock do you have?

I think it is the blenny, but maybe if you improve the situation, the coral will outgrow the blennies nips. Also you should look to the crabs, they can be bad. My blenny and crabs have been seen eating sps, lps and things like zoas. But I keep the blenny while removing the crabs.

This blenny looks like a Linear Blenny (Ecsenius lineatus). I would be surprised if it is eating the sps. Here is more info on blennies http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2004-07/hcs3/index.php

I had a bi-color blenny that would rasp on a couple of my corals. Really ticked me off. I eventually got rid of it.

On your blenny this is my opinion -- if the only thing it is nipping at is a brown digi, then keep the blenny and let the brown digi die. If you have other corals that it is nipping on then get rid of it.

Last but not least -- I was able to observe my blenny nipping on my corals, so watch it for a while. If it doesn't nip at it in an hour, then I would guess that it is not the problem.
