Topic: blue or white moon lights? Posted: June 12 2008 at 11:14am |
I want to put some lunar lights on my tank. Current advertises white moon lights as being the most natural. The last sunpod I had had both. Whats up? And, which of the moon lights would you go with? The blues I've had in the past seem to me to be the most natural.

I have done searches - and cant seem to find any definitive answers. At this point its all loony tunes to me....

I agree, they look cool. But what color is best for the fish? The spectrum of light on these are WAY different. Any ideas on what the experts have found?

I bought a blue LED nightlight from Walmart for $1.80 that looks very
nice and gives the water a shimmer as though it were MH. I wonder if I
can find those pics, ah yes... I removed the lens by prying it off with a screwdriver, plugged it into a cheap extension cord, and secured it under/inside/to the side of the reflector. It's on day and night. Works like a charm for about $5. It's so bright that one is all that's needed for a 75 gal.

Eh the fish shouldn't really care because they're sleeping. I vote blue but I've seen white and that's pretty awesome too. Go with Blue - you'll like how your corals flores

I use two of the Walmart ones that Mark recommends, and I agree they are awesome!

I thought that white was more natural as well - but after trying white and blue and a mix, I decided I like the blue more.
White didn't really bring out any color and made the tank look grey.
I just bought some lunar lights from digikits.com and I love them. http://www.utahreefs.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=26386&PID=238390#238390
