I've heard coral bandeds are mean. I have a cleaner, fire and planning to get
peppermint shrimp. SHould I avoid the coral Banded? Or, will it do fine with
other shrimp?

Boxer shrimp ARE... territorial! And able and willing to pull the arms, legs
et al. body parts off of other shrimps, small crabs, hermits that "get in
their face". If you have stenopids in mind, make room for other
crustaceans to be... and to get away while molting. Here's a challenging
CBS in N. Sulawesi (Lembeh Strait).

Although I wouldn't argue with the wetwebmedia folks ... I have successfully housed a banded coral shrimp in a 120 gallon aquarium with cleaner shrimp w/out problems. I also had a BC shrimp in a 20 gallon aquarium with a small lobster for a couple of years. Although the CB shrimp is much larger, I never witnessed any aggressive behavior.

I think a pair of CB shrimp would be very cool to have. I would take the risk of mixing different shrimp if the aquarium was large enough.

his is a 65 gal so if you want they might be OK but I dont know. It might
be worth it if you can find a pair.

Huh...

I wonder if after generations of Aquaculture if they've changed...

I have a CB that is GIGANTIC, It's housed with a bunch of hermits, and 3
peppermints. Haven't had any incident.

Although it does go after fish occasionally... it's funny.

On another note, I wouldn't replace it if It passed. I'm more interested in
Skunks and other Cleaner shrimp.

I'm mainly concerned with my fire shrimp. I don't want a $30 fire shrimp
being fed to a $6 coral banded. I don't think I'll risk it quite yet. Thanks for
your input you.

I have also had the banded coral, fire and cleaner shrimp in the same 40 gal tank.   i never saw any problems.  The banded was a little territorial, but never got close enough to the others to harm them.  Fish got near it and it did the same posturing.
