... that having your home closed up tight during the winter months raises the level of CO2.  What does this matter, you ask?  This increase in CO2 can suppress the pH of your aquarium water.  If you find your pH to be a bit low - open a window!

or, run your skimmers air intake out to a window or other source of outside air
