Ok need a little education on skimmers in general. Bought a skimmer did some research and found that the water line inside the skimmer should roughly be at about where the body and collection cup meet.
At first was was skimming not producing a lot of skimmate ( could be that the skimmer is overkill heavy load 55g light load 75-90g ). My system for now is roughly about 20g total (going to increase, hence the bigger skimmer). I was able to adjust the water level (inside) to the rim of the collection cup. After cleaning, the pump seems to be having issues. Needs a little help to get started and I cant push the water level any higher than where the collection cup and body meet. Not that I would keep it at this level since skimmate is what I'm trying to achieve and not a wet skim.
It is sitting an inch below it recommended water level (outside) but if I put to it recommend level the water level ( inside) does not even get close to where the collection cup and body meet.
So finally the questions
- pump bad?
- Not enough waste to push the bubbles into the neck?
- Possibly damaged the pump during cleaning?
Thanks
