ok I have a ASM G2 Skimmer ... when I power it up the thing will explode with bubbles ... almost like the pump has gone into overdrive.its pushing way to much water and air into the skimmer ... I cleaned out the air tube and air intake on the ventury .. but its still in overdrive ... any other suggestions?

Where is the water line?
Is the airline clogged?
Have you looked at the impeller? It should be a needle wheel.
What model pump is it?
As always, feel free to call me.

Where is the water level at on the skimmer? If the level is too high the skimmer will be in over-drive.
Thanks,

well .. it was sitting on the bottom of the sump ... the water level on the out side of the skimmer was almost to the top of the chamber ... I have picked it up a little in the sump ... now it sits around 4 or so inches in the water ...
its still in over drive ... I cleaned everything out ... its almost like its not getting enough air but yet nothing has changed ... other than I cleaned it ...
is there anything on the AMS G2 skimmer that sits in the ventury to slow the water? ... I Am at a total loss of what to do ... its not a cheep skimmer ... so ...
the ventury is totally open ... is this normal? .. I cant remember when I set it up ..

Is the chamber full of bubbles? With an ASM the top of the chamber should be white water due to all the bubbles in it.
When you say overdrive, do you mean the collection cup is filling with water or is the output full of bubbles.
If your water is oily from things like feeding frozen shrimp or dosing with Reef Plus, the skimmer will push bubbles through.
If it is a first skimmer on the tank, if might take a while to settle in...
Thanks,
Scott
