Is this a good set up? I am looking at a brandnew ballast and pendant. Is it over kill? I have a 92 gallon corner tank.

A single 400 would be awesome on a 92 corner, I would go with the single ended pendants over the HQI's there aren't a lot of bulbs for 400 DE, a 400 w radium on a HQI ballast is amazing in color and growth.  You are planning mostly SPS/clams?  If you are doing mostly LPS softies you could do a single ended 250 HQI and be fine.  The 250 watt SE radium is about the only Single ended HQI bulb, it its another awesome bulb.

How about the sundial hanging pendants? I was also looking at getting two of those instead with the 420/460nm power compacts built in. It is hard to decide due to the odd dimensions of my tank.

I think a 400 watt on a 90 corner is a great idea.

It can't hurt.  I like adding more bulbs.  But what you'll find is that lighting a corner tank isn't easy.  I'd just go with one 400watt 14K bulb and have one bulb total.

I value Adam's opinion but I would think it is overkill. I also like actinic lighting. Just my opinion.

Well I already purchased the light. Brand new with 20k Krystal light for 225. I got a killer deal. Everything is brand new in the box.
