Here is a thread from RC and Dr. Randy Holmes-Farley.  DIY ionically balanced Calcium, Alkalinity, and Magnesium additives.

Hopefully our own Jon Finch will comment!

I can't access RC from work so I can't comment on the referenced thread, but Randy has written a couple articles on a DIY balanced additive.  The first article used only Dowflake, baking soda and epsom salt.  This is an ok additive but it's still not really balanced ionically (if that matters?).  The second article he wrote added MgCl2 to the mix and this makes the additive much better and balances the major ions to seawater ratios.  I'd suggest the second method over the first.
