I just wanted to give a thumbs up to the Durso Standpipe.  It turned my overflow toilet into a silent dream.  If any of you have a noisy overflow you should consider this.  http://www.rl180reef.com/pages/standpipe/standpipe_frame.htm

I bought a kit like that for a friends tank. At least it was a similar design. Works great.

We use that style on our ranch for the water troughs for the cattle.  We don't use that to keep things quiet, we use it because it is so reliable and sturdy.   Especially when you have livestock that try to drink, bite, kick, and swim next to the overflow!  Of course, we used metal pipe, not plastic!

I've used dursos, or a variation thereof, in every "built in overflow" tank I've had or put together for someone else.  The simplistic, reliable design has always worked for me.

I wasn't a big fan of Dursos since I had tried a few variations without quieting effect. I told jon about my issue and he recommended I modify the airhole size, I did, and sure enough, perfect flow and near perfect silence. BIG FAN now! Thanks Jon
