I have blue and red mushrooms, the red much more populated than the blue, and I've notices in teh last couple days that the blues are not unfolding and thriving like the reds are.  I'm not sure why, I just did some massive re-arrangements in the tank and 40 % water change and scrubed down the sides to clean the tank.  I also dosed some iodine, and calcium.  IU haven't checked the pH yet.

Is there any reason why one set is heppy and the other sad?

Keither,  I figured someone would answer this long before now!  Just so that you don't think we're ignoring you... I'll give it a go.  In my whopping 3 months of experience, I have seen the same thing in our tank.  Not with the whole iodine/calcium/re-arrangements, but just plain old "these shrooms look great, and those other guys don't."  Same lighting, similar water flow (the ones that look wimpy actually have more flow than the happy guys).  So... I dunno.   I hope a smart person answers soon!  Smarter than me, that is.  Well, someone with a good clue.  Or someone without a clue would be fine.  Anyone?!?  C'mon!  I double dawg dare ya!

It would seem that the one handled the big water change and additives a little better than the other, I'm sure it's just a little stress, give 'em a few days they ought to recover fine. shrooms are. extremely hardy

Shrooms are moody to begin with. Like anemones (because they basicall are) they will expand, contract hide, climb or whatever they want to do. It will pass.

Now, a couple of things that will affect them based on the information that you provided... 40% water change is extreme. What was going on in your system that necessitated such a huge change? Smaller, more frequent changes are so much better than these huge changes. Also, where do you dose at? Is it into the main tank or into a sump? I would say that dosing into a sump potentially allows for more dillution time than directly into the main tank. These chemicals are pretty potent and could potentially affect a coral or fish. Finally, a massive algae scraping fest can irritate some corals simply because of the agitation in the water. Really finally, rearranging means moving things around. often, some corals go from low light to higher light conditions depending on where you move them to. This will often cause them to be pissed off for a spell, but this too shall pass.
