Where is the best place to get a 120 V AC to 12 V DC transformer. I've got a new lighting idea.

Deseret Industries. Get a "wall wart" for $0.50. Buy the one with the highest power rating (i.e. look for one over 1000 ma).

I agree with Jon. The DI is a great place to pick one up.
If all else fails RA-Elco will have them, but they seem to over charge for stuff like that.
