I just got back from California to find my VHOs were dark. I unplugged the ballast and plugged it back in, only one bulb fired and only for about 5 seconds. Then nothing. I changed the bulbs around, played with the wiring for a bit - but always with the same result.

The ballast is an older IceCap (Model 450). The plug is the same as the newer models. I would like to plug a another ballast into my system to confirm the ballast is the culprit. Anyone willing to let me plug their IceCap ballast into my lights? It would need to power 2 x 140w VHOs. I will make it worth your time!

Corey,

I think the 450 is the older model number of the 660. It should work just fine. I really appreciate the offer! Anytime is great for me. Please call me and confirm. (435) 720-2599. Thanks again.

Special thanks to Corey for driving up last night and letting me plug his ballast into my system. My VHOs fired right up with his ballast. Thanks again!

I contacted IceCap this morning, they were surprised that I had such an old ballast. They told me to send it back and they would see what they could do. We'll see.

Update:

I sent my ballast to IceCap. They repaired it and returned it to me for $65. Total time w/out ballast was about 12 days. It seems to work great!

The invoice was pretty funny. Under model and serial number they typed "Real Old".

All in all I think IceCap lived up to their reputation. Even with a "real old" ballast.
