Topic: Utah Rock Posted: August 19 2004 at 10:42am |

On this Utah Rock, actually Lake Bonneville Tufa (thanks Mark!), I have
pressure washed all the rocks and there is still some lichens(spelling)
on it. Do I have to make sure I get all of it off? Is a
little bit of it deadly, or am I fine? Also if I boiled the rock,
would that help? Any info is appreciated.
Thanks

All I did was rinse the rocks well. I left the lichens on and had no problems.

If you are placing it into an unstocked tank, I would say that you really have no worries. Going into a stocked tank, a bit at a time is the best bet. I would say thou that chances are you'll be fine either way.

If you pressure washed it and got inches away to kick off the lichen, whatever is left will be no problem in any tank.
Drilling holes to stick in ORA or GARF plugs, small frags or Gorgonia is common practice.
