We had two, growing great in our last sump. When I tried to transplant them into our new sump, one didn't make it. The dead trunk is still in there! The other one is alive, it's not too big.The hard part is keeping them small. When they are happy, they grow great! You really have to kinda bonsai them! I was thinking about growing one next to the tank, as a sort of houseplant. Wouldn't that be cool! Good luck!Suzy

Oh no, my goodness no. They are excellent as a way to export nutrients as part of your algae scrubber refugium.
People who disclaim their benefit have never used them and did not look at their extensive root structure. Mangroves are a little inconvenient because of height, but Suzy has had the best little mangrove in her sump.
Suzy, was it the bushy one that survived?
The Pet Factory sells them.

No, it is the other less bushy, and after the transplant, even less bushy! It's still cute,though....It does have lots o' roots.Looks like some are trying to grow new trees! Wouldn't that be cool! I could call it our bonsai mangrove forest! .

I've got 3 growing in my refugium. After transplanting in Dec.. 1 is doing well and the others are still struggling. I have them set up on a reverse daylight program. It seems to help stabilize my PH

You want them in the sand , I think. I beleive the roots are where the action is.They really do grow great roots! They must be sucking out something plants want, 'cause I can't get no stinkin' calerpa to grow!
