Topic: Macro Algae Posted: May 05 2003 at 10:11am |
Thanks to jfinch I should have a refugium up and going within a couple weeks. I am wondering what everyone thinks is the best macro algae to go with as well as if anyone has any that I can trade/have/buy? Let me know. Thanks!

I always have Caulerpa racemosa available. Feel free to come and get some whenever you want.

I have heard that chaetomorpha is one of the better macro algaes, being it doesn't go asexual or become toxic. Just wondering ideas, thoughts and so on on this? Thanks!

Chaetomorpha? Who have you been talking to? I think it is awesome stuff, so I agree. But I've never met anyone else who felt the same. It doesn't have holdfasts like most other macro algaes. Therefore it easily blows around your tank and clogs up powerheads, and gets stuck in overflows, and tangles up in your anemones....
Still I think it is way cool in a sump where it is separate from everything else.
Just my opinion on it, and now I am anxious to see if anyone else has an opinion.

That is what I have been thinking of it for - in a refugium. I lived on Palau for awhile and met a guy there who was big time in to tanks and he swears by this stuff for several different reasons. Its been awhile so I wasn't sure on the spelling?
