I have had my lion for a while, hes not dwarf hes a volitan, but not full grown. Any ways i HATE feeding him feeder fish health wise, so i have been triyng to train him to eat frozen peices of shrimp. So far he will only eat the tails of the shrimp i guess since they look like little gold fish, but he still wont eat the actual meat. Anytips on getting him to eat?? Right at the moment, i am not feeding him for a couple days so he will hopefully accept it when offered., any ways any help would be apprecieated! Thanks - Tanner

Who'd have thought that you'd get a response at 1am... LOL

I had the same problem with my Fu Manchu.  First off stop feeding the feeders there are great alternatives to feeder fish that aren't nearly as fatty snacks.  Depending on if it is possible for you to get a hold on them switch to ghost shrimp.  I got them from Fish 4 U for something like $.10 each or a dozen for $1.  I can't remember as it's been years since I had to buy them...  You can also order them online, but make sure you order the ones that are feeders as you can pay up to $1+ per shrimp on some sites that sell them as aquarium companions.  Once you have some breeding them isn't too difficult, but for the price it's easier to just buy them.  Back to the topic at hand... Going from live ghost shrimp to krill is pretty easy if you don't feed them those fatty snacks in between.  Feed live ghost shrimp for a couple days then feed dead ghost shrimp and live ghost shrimp (you may be able to add krill at this point if he is willing) for a couple days to a week.  Then offer just dead ghost shrimp and krill.  Give it a couple days to two weeks and see if he is converted.  If not go back to dead and a couple live and try again.  It worked for me so hopefully it will work for you.  If you need help finding ghost shrimp let me know and maybe I could mail you a bunch (you pay Wink )  Also if you do need to order a bunch you can just keep them in a small tank, separate as ghost shrimp are freshwater, with an airstone.  I kept about 20-50 at a time in a 5g tank, but you could probably keep upwards of 100+ just fine and then as they die off you can use those as the dead ones instead of actually "killing" them.  Again let me know if you need more explanation or help getting a hold of some ghost shrimp.

Anyone else jump in with other ideas, this is just how I got all my lion fish over to krill...

I agree with Eva.  Also a couple days is nothing for lionfish.  If he goes two weeks without food he'll be really hungry.  But live shrimp is a great step towards frozen shrimp.
