I wanted to know what will be the best size powerhead for a 90 gallon
I only have softies and some Lps coral so I don't need a lot of water movement. I also don't like the look of corals that look like they are being hit by a tornado, I want to have a kind of gentle where they corals look like they swing with the current.
I was thinking of buying two power heads but not sure wats better a
800gph or 1300gph
What do you think will be better?

I have two 1200gph heads, an mp10, maxi jet 900, skimmer return, refugium return, and a uv return for flow in my 4 ft long 60 gal. If that helps you decide.

I know exactly what you mean. Though some coral like strong current they would do as well or better if the powerheads were positioned differently. If this 90 were my tank, I would get one Maxijet 1200 and use the stream kit
to move 1300 gph. It may sound like a lot of flow, but all the coral will
thank you. I recently bought 3 Maxijet 1200 online for $56 and free
shipping. This is what makes them the best value. Dana Riddle, a famous
hobbyist expert called MJ's the workhorse of the hobby. Now, regarding the tornado effect. It's
not just the right powerhead that makes the difference, it's how it's
used. Placed on the sand or a flat rock at the center bottom shooting straight up gives excellent
flow all around the tank, even in the corners. It's the best sort of flow I have found in 20 years of powerhead use. This positioning provides
maximum pH benefit as well, bringing water rolling on the surface for maximum gas exchange. Alternatively, two MJ900 streams
placed at opposite back bottom corners shooting diagonally up at the
center to where the streams collide at the surface would also be an
excellent use of 2 powerheads for a soft coral and LPS tank. Come on over next week and see for yourself. (My tanks are on their own until Sunday  ) Mark  Murray 808-345-1049

I was thinking placing them at the back corners of the tank and having them bounce off the front glass to the top.
So which two will be best
800 or 1300gph
