I have an APEX Jr. I was wondering if I can use the PC lights with the variable lighting function, like storms and so forth?

Yeah, you'll have to go with LEDs if you want to go dimmable. The Apex Junior also doesn't have variable dimming ports like the Apex, so you'll need a VDM (about $100).

LEDs are a lot cheaper in the long run. If you like them of course.

I do like LEDs but they don't make any good options for a single fixture on a 72 inch tank and multiple fixtures are definitely not in my budget right now.
