This may be a dumb question... but here it is anyhow...

What is the best way to wire up the halides using wire nuts, butt connectors, soldering, something else?  I have a 250W ARO ballst, DE socket and lamp all ready to be wired up, just unsure of how it is best to go about making the connections.  Also can those computer power cords be used for the wiring (i have a bunch of them lying around) so could I just cut off one end and use those?

soldering is always the best connection but also the biggest pain in the ass.  if you're planning on not having the connections rust out near the tank i'd say solder them and shrink tube around them.  a little bit of a pain but good piece of mind in the long run!

that being said, i always use twist caps to make my connections and then e-tape them. =)~

I agree with dnellans.  Soldering is best, but I never do it either.  And those computer chords make great power chords for DIY lighting systems (use the ground).

I soldered and heat shrink wrapped my connections. It left a lot cleaner looking install. But also took some time to do.

If you want I could solder your connections if you buy the shrink tubing.

I crimp butt end connectors and then try to hide them
